YOU ARE ABOUT TO CREATE YOUR OWN MYTH. YOU AND YOUR TEAMMATES WILL ALSO GIVE A PRESENTATION ON IT IN FRONT OF THE OTHER TEAMS.

You are going to read and listen to information related to Celtic mythology. Once you have analyzed the information, you can create your own myth.

It´s essential you speak in English when working with your teammates. 

The different activities will have to be performed on a special "notebook" that each group will have to design. Your notebook must have a cover page with the name and logo of the group on it, and the following title:

TASK 1

HALLOWEEN

 ACTIVITY 1
 Warm up activity. Go to the webpage
http://mbonillo.xavierre.com/grammar/juegos.html There, click on "juegos" and on "curiosidades tradiciones". Check your knowledge about Halloween.

Then, go to the webpage 
https://www.tolearnenglish.com/ . There, click on useful tools and seasonal themes and check your vocabulary about Halloween

Finally, fill in the gaps with the words in the box and read about Halloween.
Go to the staff room and ask for the corresponding worksheet. Once you have finished, enclos it in your notebook.

ACTIVITY 3

 Go to the webpage http://projectbritain.com/. Find information and answer the questions with full sentences:

1. What is the origin of Halloween?
2. Where does the word Halloween originate from?
3. When is it held?
4, Traditions. What do people do in Halloween?
If you have problems to find the information, follow these steps: folklore, October, Halloween.


TASK 2
 
KING ARTHUR

ACTIVITY 1
 
Warm up activity. Answer the questions: Have you ever heard about King Arthur? Who was he? Where did he live? When did he reign?


ACTIVITY 2
 
​ Reading comprehension. Browse the web and find on “Youtube”  “the legendary myth of King Arthur of England. Read it.


ACTIVITY 3
 
 Listening.  Listen to “Level 5-7 the sword in the stone” on you tube. You can use the subtitles.
Now answer the questions about King Arthur with full sentences:


1.       Who was King Arthur? Was he real?
2.       Did he have a family?
3.       What was the sword in the stone?
4.       What was the name of his city?
5.       Did he marry? To whom?
6.       Why do we know about him nowadays? Who was the writer who made Arthur famous?

TASK 3
 
MYTHS AND LEGENDS – IRELAND

ACTIVITY 1

 Warm-up activity. Go to website http://www.theemeraldisle.org/irish-myths-legends/ and give a short definition of both “myth” and “legend”. What are the main differences between these concepts?

ACTIVITY 2

 Choose ONE of the myths or legends you are given and rewrite the story USING YOUR OWN WORDS.

ACTIVITY 3

 Choose your favourite mythical character (unicorn, dragon, etc.) and say why it is your favourite and what other stories you have heard in which this character appeared.
 

 FINAL TASK

INVENT YOUR OWN MYTH.
​

Create a hero, king, queen, goddess or  god. Give information about his/her physical appearance, personality, family, place of birth.... Use adjectives and comparatives.

You will have to do a presentation of your myth to be watched by your class mates, in your English lesson once the projects have finished.
